American Airlines: Club Lounge

The new Admirals Club lounge in Terminal 3 Heathrow has been revamped to offer seating for 230 people, with amenities including new shower suites, complimentary Wi-Fi access and a cyber cafe.

The project comprised the refurbishment of existing passenger lounge facilities which are currently occupied by American Airlines and Gulf Air. To ensure that passengers had access to operational lounge facilities during the refurbishment the work was divided in 5 phases.

The project necessitated the removal of existing partitions; wall, floor and ceiling finishes; removal of furniture and fittings; and removal of mechanical and electrical installations. There was also a requirement to carefully demolish an existing roof top pump room to facilitate the installation of chillers and air handling units. During the works, the Contractor was required to provide all necessary temporary hoardings, protection, signage, services and any temporary modifications to ensure the safe and continuous operation of the lounge areas not undergoing refurbishment at that time.

The finishes were a combination of materials and include timber, granite, carpet, terrazzo, plasterboard and metal ceiling tiles.

Mechanical and Electrical installations comprised sanitary appliances (showers, WCs, wash hand basins, urinals and bidets); disposal installations; hot, cold and drinking water; heating main and calorifiers; air conditioning and ventilation; power supply, lighting installations; protective installations; communication installations (fire detection and alarm, CCTV, telephone, PA, clocks, Wi-Fi); building management system and builders work in connection with all mechanical and electrical installations.
